 OUR JOURNEY

The story of INDIA-AIDS is one of evolution, resilience, and unwavering commitment to social upliftment. What began in the early 2000s as a grassroots initiative to support individuals suffering from HIV/AIDS has grown into a nationally recognized NGO working across four pillars: Health, Education, Environment, and Empowerment.

🛤️ The Beginning: A Mission Rooted in Compassion

Our journey began in Delhi, where the HIV/AIDS crisis was both urgent and under-addressed. Patients were stigmatized, isolated, and left without access to basic care or social support. Moved by the suffering around her, Ms. Archana Shrivastava, a social worker and educator, founded INDIA-AIDS to offer dignity, counseling, medicine access, and community to those impacted by the disease. The name of our NGO reflects those origins, and though our work has expanded, we continue to support individuals with critical health needs.

🪴 Expansion Beyond HIV/AIDS

As awareness, treatment, and policy support for AIDS improved over the years, the organization recognized that health is deeply connected to social conditions—poverty, illiteracy, pollution, and lack of opportunity. This realization led us to broaden our scope of work. We began introducing tuition classes for slum children, vocational training for underprivileged women, and awareness camps on hygiene and nutrition. Gradually, INDIA-AIDS grew into a multi-faceted NGO tackling the root causes of vulnerability.

🌱 Going Green: The Environmental Turn

In the last decade, our work on environmental sustainability has taken center stage. We launched mass sapling distribution drives, creating awareness around medicinal plants like Ashwagandha and Tulsi. With support from the National Medicinal Plants Board (Ministry of AYUSH), we distributed lakhs of plants across Delhi and neighboring states. Our collaboration with the Airport Authority of India (AAI) saw the creation of the Rashi Garden, the "Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam" selfie point, and other green installations. These were not just symbolic gestures—they were community-driven campaigns involving children, teachers, corporates, and volunteers.

We also started plastic waste segregation training, ‘Waste to Wealth’ craft workshops, and established Herbal Gardens in schools, empowering students to understand ecology in action.

🧵 Skills for Livelihood: Empowerment Through Education

Realizing the power of economic independence, INDIA-AIDS developed certified courses under the Jan Shikshan Sansthan (JSS). Today, hundreds of women and youth are trained annually in:

  • Stitching & tailoring

  • Beauty care

  • Gardening

  • Art and painting

  • Computer education

  • Plastic waste reuse crafts

These courses are offered free of cost, and many trainees have gone on to start their own micro-businesses or find jobs in local markets.

⛳ Sports, Youth, and CSR Support

In recent years, INDIA-AIDS has also begun supporting young talent in sports. Notably, we helped Master Prince Bainsla, a promising 14-year-old golfer, by securing CSR support for his training and kits. His national and international wins are a symbol of the dreams we nurture.

🚀 From a Cause to a Movement

Today, INDIA-AIDS stands tall as a community-led organization, supported by ministries, corporations, educators, and thousands of volunteers. Our journey has been full of challenges—but also full of purpose, partnerships, and people whose lives have been touched forever.

And yet, we believe this is just the beginning.
