Empowering Awareness through Dialogue and DemonstrationDate: 11th April 2025
Organized by: Legislative Department, Ministry of Law & Justice
Occasion: Swachhata Pakhwada 2025
In alignment with the spirit of Swachhata Pakhwada, the Legislative Department, Ministry of Law & Justice took a proactive and thoughtful step on 11th April 2025 by organizing a two-session seminar focused on crucial contemporary issues—women’s health, personal hygiene, and environmental sustainability. Held within the premises of Shastri Bhawan, the event was graced by dignitaries including the Joint Secretary and Under Secretary of the Legislative Department, who emphasized the department’s commitment to holistic wellness and ecological responsibility.
🧕🏻 Session I: Women’s Health & Cervical Cancer Awareness
The first half of the seminar was exclusively curated for the 70+ women staff members of the department. It centered on the importance of early protection and prevention against cervical cancer, one of the most common and preventable cancers affecting women.
Medical experts delivered powerful presentations highlighting the significance of routine screenings (like Pap smears), HPV vaccinations, menstrual hygiene, and self-care practices. Participants were sensitized to symptoms, myths, and medical options available through government schemes. This knowledge-sharing session not only empowered women with scientific insights but also created a safe, open space for dialogue—something essential in breaking taboos around women's health.
🌱 Session II: Eco-Friendly Practices & Carbon Footprint Reduction
The second session was a department-wide discussion open to all staff and officials, delving into environmental responsibilities in personal and professional spaces. The primary focus was on reducing daily carbon footprints through simple yet impactful changes in behavior.
Experts introduced practical lifestyle modifications such as energy conservation, responsible consumption, waste reduction, and plastic segregation. A major highlight was the live demonstration of making Eco Bricks using soft plastic waste—an innovative and sustainable method to repurpose non-recyclable materials into building blocks. The activity captured interest and encouraged participation from all attendees, symbolizing action over theory.
💡 A Step Towards Responsible Citizenship
The seminar successfully bridged health and environmental awareness, reminding everyone that cleanliness is not limited to surroundings, but must extend to the body, mind, and choices we make daily. It reflected the Ministry’s progressive approach—moving beyond symbolic gestures and instead, investing in education, empowerment, and engagement of its workforce.
This event was more than just a departmental activity—it was a reflection of collective accountability and the power of informed communities. INDIA-AIDS NGO applauds the initiative and remains a proud collaborator in similar programs promoting Swachh Bharat, Nari Shakti, and Sustainable Development across institutions.
