🎭 Spreading Awareness through Street Theatre

Date: 1st July 2025

Event: Nukkad Natak (Street Play)

Venue: IOCL WTC Office, Delhi

In an impactful initiative combining creativity with social messaging, INDIA-AIDS NGO, in collaboration with Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), organized a Nukkad Natak (street play) at the World Trade Centre (WTC) office of IOCL on 1st July 2025. The theme of the performance revolved around energy conservation, environmental responsibility, and sustainable living.

🎬 Powerful Performance, Strong Message

Performed by a vibrant team of young volunteers and trained artists associated with the NGO, the street play used humor, emotion, and real-life scenarios to deliver crucial messages. Through relatable characters — a wasteful shopkeeper, a concerned mother, a young environmentalist, and a careless commuter — the Natak creatively demonstrated how small, everyday choices impact the environment and national resources.

From switching off lights and gas when not in use, to promoting public transport, saving fuel, reducing plastic waste, and choosing eco-friendly alternatives — the play encouraged viewers to become agents of change in their own households and communities.

👏 Engaging the Audience

The performance was met with enthusiastic applause and genuine appreciation from IOCL staff and passersby, many of whom stopped to watch the entire play. What made the Nukkad Natak special was its interactive format — actors broke the fourth wall to involve the audience, ask questions, and even get a few people to perform with them. The messages landed not just as performances, but as personal reflections.

💬 Corporate Social Responsibility in Action

This initiative was a part of IOCL’s CSR and awareness-building efforts, showcasing how institutions and NGOs can collaborate to create public engagement on critical issues in fun and effective ways. The event also helped strengthen INDIA-AIDS’s mission to educate through art, especially among youth and professionals.

By blending tradition with purpose, the Nukkad Natak reminded everyone that impactful change often begins in the street — and in the heart.
