Empowering Households: INDIA-AIDS’ Domestic Programs for Energy Conservation
As part of its ongoing mission toward sustainable development, INDIA-AIDS has been conducting domestic awareness programs that focus on energy conservation at the household level. These unique initiatives, carried out in collaboration with the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas / PCRA, have brought together women from all walks of life—including homemakers, village women, and even house helps—into one shared space of learning and empowerment.
Understanding that women play a central role in managing household energy usage, INDIA-AIDS curated special sessions that provided practical tips on gas and electricity savings, fuel-efficient cooking practices, and small but effective daily steps to reduce energy wastage. From using pressure cookers wisely to covering pots while boiling water, from switching to LED bulbs to cooking during specific hours to save LPG—every detail was designed to be affordable, doable, and impactful.
Workshops were held in urban slums, community centers, and village clusters, ensuring maximum outreach. Demonstrations, Q&A rounds, and group discussions helped participants learn not only from trainers but also from each other’s lived experiences.
The goal was simple: empower women with knowledge that improves both their household economics and the environment. By educating and equipping them with tools for smart resource management, INDIA-AIDS helped these women become true champions of change—starting right from their kitchens.
Through these grassroots-level domestic programs, INDIA-AIDS continues to build a movement where sustainability begins at home, led by the very hands that nurture families every day.
